Project Overview

San Francisco hackathon videography requires speed, flexibility, and a cinematic approach. We recently filmed the JetBrains Hackathon at OpenAI for Cerebral Valley, capturing the energy of one of the city’s top AI events. The room was filled with developers, founders, engineers, and builders collaborating on new AI projects in real time.

For a high-energy event like this, the goal was not just to document what happened. The goal was to create content that felt alive, cinematic, and useful for future marketing.

The Challenge

Hackathons are naturally unpredictable. Important moments happen everywhere at once: teams coding, mentors giving feedback, product demos taking shape, and conversations breaking out across the room.

• Move quickly through a crowded, high-profile environment.

• Respect privacy and sensitive work happening inside the space.

Production Approach

We used a lightweight, mobile production setup built for speed and flexibility. This allowed us to move through the event naturally while capturing cinematic handheld footage, detail shots, environmental coverage, and key moments from the hackathon.

The visual approach focused on energy: screens glowing, teams collaborating, candid reactions, demos, sponsor presence, and the atmosphere of the room.
